Sorry for the missing post from yesterday, however we received some unexpected and sad news that sent us into a tailspin to plan an early trip to Newfoundland.
Piper Cee's great-grandmother Lynch passed away yesterday morning, just one week shy of her 103rd birthday. A sad day as a true Lynch legacy is lost. We will be flying home tomorrow so that we can be with the family to celebrate her long incredible life!
I am so very glad that Piper was able to meet her when we were home for a visit this summer.

Since we'll be flying all day tomorrow, I will quickly post the remaining photos of our trip to California. They include the drive to Morro Bay, which I described earlier with the puking and pooping. :-)
The we drove to Anaheim via Malibu and Santa Monica. We could not pass through without stopping to take in a beautiful Malibu beach and dip our feet into the warm Pacific Ocean. Nor could we pass by the famous Santa Monica Pier without stopping. Both were so beautiful and so fun, however we lingered a little too long before continuing on to Anaheim and therefore got stuck in rush hour traffic on the I35 going through Los Angeles. Yikes. It was not good! When we got in the van to drive from Santa Monica to Anaheim, the GPS told us that it was an estimated 25 minute drive. We were stuck in such crazy traffic and moving so slowly that the time on the GPS actually got larger for a while... then it stayed at 20 minutes for about an hour... and FINALLY about 2 hours later we arrived at our hotel. lol. Craziness. I'm not a huge fan of Yellowknife, but I DO love Yellowknife traffic! :-)
We spent two nights in Anaheim so that we could take the kiddos to Disneyland. Really it was all for Nathan since he's three and old enough to enjoy the kiddy rides, but we wanted to go as well to enjoy the Disney atmosphere. We took Piper on the Teacup ride, which she loved, but not nearly as much as she loved the Disney Parade at the end of the day. She was kicking her legs, waving her arms and squealing in delight at the dancing and singing characters passing by. The entire visit was worth it just for that parade. So much fun!
After Anaheim we were off to San Diego where we took in the world famous San Diego Zoo. It was beautiful. Piper slept for most of it and then when she woke up, she stayed in the Ergo Carrier and just peeped out at the animals. I was okay with this, since it was a super hot day and the carrier kept the sun off of her little head!
Our last day consisted of a three flights. San Diego to Los Angeles, Los Angeles to Calgary and then Calgary to home. Piper was a fabulous little flier for the entire time. Let's hope she flies as well again tomorrow.
