Spring Colours

The day that Nana arrived was beautiful.

We still had heaps of snow on the ground,
but that didn't stop us from getting outside in short sleeves to play!

Why is it that everything just seems to be more fun
when you outdoors?

Even colouring!

And having a cold one...
but we'll leave that to Nana and the parents for at least another 16 years!

This was the best fun we could find on the patio,
while we wait for all of that snow to melt!
Mommy often needs a drink by the end of the day after chasing these two around nonstop.
Nana had one after only being with us for a couple of hours.
Umm... I think that speaks volumes about the chaos in my house!
Ha!

Double Double

Okay!
So I really have to back up the bus on these blog posts!

For the next week or so I will try to include all of the photos from Nana's visit
and from our trip to Nova Scotia.

Then we'll be excited to share photos of our next set of visitors,
who are due to arrive in four more sleeps!

Summer is fun!

The only thing Piper would like better than seeing Nana,
is seeing Nana in Tim Hortons while eating Tim Bits!
Elliotte joined in on the love as well.
There is nothing she loves better than her milk,
so this post should have been called a triple triple instead!

PS.
The sleeping arrangements last night went semi-awesome! Elliotte woke up twice for milk, which is strange for her. She normally only wakes once a night, but is probably cutting new teeth again. The bright side is that she did not wake her sister when she cried out for me to go and get her! Piper came out of her room a half a dozen times at the beginning of the night, but Elliotte didn't seem to care. We didn't see Piper again until 7:00 AM.
Let's hope that night #2 of room sharing is just as successful, if not more! So far Elliotte has been in bed for an hour, but is still just playing in her crib. Piper went to bed a half an hour ago and has only been out once to come up with some lame excuse to get me back in there to cover her up again. Ha! Mark says she's stubborn. I say she's determined! Either way, there is a chance that this room sharing thing may actually work out for us. Not that we have a whole lot of choice in the matter, with only two bedrooms on the main floor.
Despite the relative success of last night, I did not get a great sleep. I was awake half to the night just waiting for the chaos to start. Isn't it funny how we do that as parents? Sigh. Perhaps tonight I'll relax more and will find that blissful thing people call blissful sound sleep!

Laundry Load of Love

We all know that Nana Pope LOVES to do laundry,
but she has never loved her laundry basket
quite so much as this day!

This was pretty much the ONLY way I could get a photo
of all three of these trouble makers together.
Not that it didn't have it's challenges!
There were some push and pull rides involved,
which included a whole lot of giggles.
And though Jack doesn't look too content in the first photo,
he really was having fun!
And then this happened.
Piper is also in this photo.
Can you spot her?
I'll give you a little hint:
Elliotte has her trapped.
I have a sneaky suspicion that Elliotte would like things to be like this more often!

PS. Elliotte has been sleeping in a crib in our room up until now. This is because our house only has two bedrooms on the main floor and we were not brave enough to put both girls in their shared bedroom just yet. With Elliotte still getting up once a night for milk and Piper often getting up once or twice (or five times) a night due to bad dreams or needing to pee, I just didn't want to give up any sleep due to the girls waking each other.

Well, after me sharing a bedroom with both girls while staying at Aunt Krista and Uncle Harold's house, and Piper successfully sleeping through Elliotte's waking, we've decided that tonight is the night that we're going to be brave and attempt having the girls sleep in the same room alone.

They've been in there together now for about 40 minutes and Piper has already woken Elliotte once, but that was quickly rectified with a quick telling of the Three Little Pigs and a snuggle. After that Piper has come out of her room to pee and because she "had a bad dream". Fancy since I know she hasn't been asleep yet. Sigh. Wish us luck that the night goes smoothly and this momma gets a much needed good night's rest!

Oh Yes We Did

We've been off the grid for a good reason this week.
And will be gone again this weekend.

Why?

This is why!

NANA's HERE!!!!!
So we've been very very busy!

And yes we did.
We finally traded in our SUV for a family vehicle.
A VAN!!!
Or a "wan" if you ask Piper!
We LOVE it!

Cupcake Batter

At cooking school this week we made
sunshine pancakes and sunshine cupcakes.

The best part: licking the cupcake batter off of the mixing spoon/beaters!

Elliotte was happy to eat one of the cupcakes
when Mommy wasn't watching.
Oops!

Three tiny cooks.

Yep! Licking the batter is pretty awesome. Sorry you didn't get one, Elliotte.
Eating the pancakes wasn't so bad either!

Played Out

Today was play group day.

As usual, the girls had lots of fun.
Piper is really coming out if her shell there.

Elliotte always has fun,
but has become a little magnet to the stairs that lead up to the little loft.
Twice now the facilitator has put a board across the stairs to keep her down
after watching me remove her 50 times.
What a monkey!

The big kids decided to do some arts and crafts.
All Piper wanted to was play with the glue.
See the brown paper?!
Just glue.
That's Piper's art!
Story time.
Play group is exhausting.
Really exhausting!
