Bubble Guppies Live

Last night we decided to take a trip into Charlottetown
where the girls could see the Bubble Guppies Live musical show.

We really couldn't afford it,
but my conscience got the better of me
and I convinced Mark that we had to go.

My reasons stemmed from a couple of things.
First of all, when Piper was the biggest Dora fan ever
(and still is a little bit),
we took her to the live Dora show TWICE.
Elliotte has always been a Guppies fan,
so I felt wrong not giving her the same experience.

My second reason is that I've been feeling guilty
about my parenting lately.
Piper has been sick with a urine problem again this year
and it has been ongoing since January.
That means less sleep,
less patience,
less energy
less happiness in our family.
Elliotte is definitely getting the raw end of the deal here
and I feel like I owe it to her to do something special.

I'm glad we did.
She had an amazing time.

She was in absolute awe when the show started,
but she did get a little shy and starstruck.
Nana had asked her to wave to Nonny for her.
She did.
And he waved back.
WOAH!
(He was waving to the audience,
but she doesn't know that!)
Her little world was rocked.
It was worth every penny and more.

Miss Piper had a fun time too.
She's still struggling,
but for what she's going through,
she's pretty amazing.
To give a short example,
Piper peed at 3:45 while we were at the Vet with Blue.
Then peed again at 4:00 when we dropped Blue off
and hit the road for Charlottetown.
By the time we reached Charlottetown
(roughly a 45-50 minute drive)
she was crying again that she needed to pee.
We arrived at the venue and she peed (5:30 ish).
Then 20 minutes into the show,
she whispered to me that she needed to pee again.
Thankfully intermission started and I took her to the bathroom.
Thirty minutes later,
the show was over and she peed again.
By the time we got home,
she was asking to pee again...
which she did twice before going to bed.
Then after I tucked her in and read two stories,
she said she needed to pee again.
I told her to go ahead.
She crawled halfway out of bed
and whined that she was too tired,
but needed to pee.
She fell asleep like that.
Just like that.
Halfway out of bed and halfway in.
Piper whole little life is consumed with needing to go bathroom.
It's been a long three months,
but we hope to get some answers next month
when we head to the IWK in Halifax to see a pediatric urologist.
Wish us luck that they find something minor
that can easily be treated!

I Don't Want to be the Fuzz

Oh goodness.

Today was a BIG day in the Lynch household.

Piper slept in her bed for the ENTIRE night last night,
so was incredibly excited to wake me up and tell me this at 7:15am.
Since our girl never sleeps though the night,
this was worth celebrating by all!

Last night was also the first time we put Elliotte to bed
wearing panties and not a pull-up.
Guess who woke up completely dry!!!!
That's my big girl.
Elliotte usually sleeps all night,
but now she's sleeping all night in big girl panties!
Another reason to celebrate.

How did we celebrate?

With chocolate of course.
Then 10 minutes of iPad time each. (This is a rare treat!)
Then a trip to the swimming pool.

AND the big one...
we turned Elliotte's crib into a big girl bed!

She was super proud and excited.

Though it did only take Piper about 10 minutes
to get into trouble for jumping on it,
it was still an exciting event for our whole family.
We have procrastinated moving E to a big girl bed
because of Piper's terrible sleep habits.
I figure if Elliotte is happy to sleep in her crib
and it isn't hurting her, why change it.
You don't try to fix what's not broken, right?

Well, everything was rainbows and lollipops until bedtime came.
I'll bet you're all thinking that it was a nightmare
trying to get her to stay in her bed!
You're so wrong.

It fell apart at story time.

Piper, Elliotte and I were cuddled up on Piper's bed reading our stories together.
Elliotte had chosen The Paperbag Princess as one of her two books,
which got us talking about Halloween costumes.
I had suggested that one of them might like to
dress up as the Paperbag Princess for Halloween this year.
Elliotte said no and that she'd like to be a bumblebee again.
I told her that I'm not sure if her bumblebee costume would fit this year,
but we could try it.
Then I said,
"If it is too small, perhaps you could go as the Popo.
Heehee. You could go at the FUZZ for Halloween!"

** Note: My girls have heard me call Mark the Popo a million times.
It's commonly used in our house and we mean no disrespect.
It's the only nickname that I use...
UNTIL we watch Finding Dory.
During one of the final scenes of the movie,
Bailey the Beluga sees the police coming and says,
"Uh oh. It's the Fuzz."
Well, the first time we watched this movie and I heard Bailey say that,
I laughed so hard that I cried.
Piper and Elliotte didn't understand what was so amusing,
but they knew that if they repeat what Bailey said,
I would laugh out loud.

Okay, back to my Elliotte story.
After I suggested that Elliotte could be the Fuzz for Halloween,
she didn't say anything.
She didn't agree nor disagree,
so I just continued on with story time.
While pausing to wait for the girls to choose a Peppa Pig story
to read out of our collection,
Elliotte randomly and quietly says,
"I don't want to be the Fuzz."

Okay, so they way she said it and when it was so unexpected,
I laughed.
I really laughed.
That hurt Elliotte's feelings.
It really hurt Elliotte's feelings.
So she cried.
Hard!
A broken hearted sobbing cry.

Mark even came running to find out what had happened.
Piper telling Mark the story made Elliotte cry even harder.
My poor baby who is not a baby anymore!

Talk about a mommy fail tonight!

And we were so excited for the big girl bed.

After comforting Elliotte and finally getting her settled again,
we continued reading our bedtime stories.
Before I was finished,
Elliotte was sound asleep next to me.
We picked her up and laid her in her big girl bed
without her even knowing.

I'm so sad that she missed such a big milestone,
but there will be a big celebration tomorrow!
Her choice!
Which I'm sure her big sister will help sway!

McFriends

A visit to McDonalds is always a treat for Piper and Elliotte.

Elliotte loves cheeseburgers!

Piper likes (not loves) the chicken nuggets.

Both will eat a few fries,
but neither are big fans.
They are just like their parents!!

But when you combine a trip to McD's with friends,
THEN it's the best treat of all.

Belated St. Paddy's Day

My girls LOVE St. Patrick's Day.
Piper calls it Green Day and
has her list of things she needs to do on this special day.

The number one thing is to always have a green breakfast.
Easy!

The second thing is to wear green clothes.
Mommy failed.
Apparently we don't have green clothing.
Piper has pointed out that this needs to change by next year.
I agree.
I promise to plan ahead for such a special day.
Thankfully we did find green socks to wear,
so that let Mommy off the hook... at least for this year.

This lucky day did prove it's worth throughout the day, however.
Piper was due for an X-ray in the late morning,
and guess what color johnny-coat they gave her... GREEN!
She was very VERY pleased.
Even more so when I rewarded her with a green milkshake from McDonalds
for being such a brave girl at the hospital.

Later, while shopping at Superstore,
an employee made both of my little girls very happy
by placing a small shamrock on each of their cheeks.

Then, Daddy put the icing on the cake by making green pancakes
for supper.

Yep.

My little girls were very happy with Green Day 2017.

Amazon Top Seller

Today was Caitlin's birthday party.

Boy oh boy did the girls ever have fun!

Caitlin is a great eater,
just like Piper,
so requested chili for her birthday meal.

Claire was afraid that none of the other kids would eat it,
but still catered to Caitlin's request.
She ended up being right,
except for our own exceptional eater.

Piper ate TWO FULL BOWLS!
Then a giant piece of cake covered in an insane amount of candy.

This all took place around 3:30 in the afternoon.
When we arrived home at 5:30,
Piper told me that she was hungry and
asked for supper!

She ate more than the adults at the party!!
How is it possible that she was still hungry?
I'm thinking it's a growth spurt.
I'm not sure she needs another already.
She's almost a full year younger than Sylvie,
yet they are the same height,
and Sylvie is not a short child.

Elliotte, on the other hand,
didn't eat anything.
She's cutting her last two molars and is not enjoying it one bit.

Fingers crossed that they come through fast
and she's back to being her hungry little self before too long.

Another Birthday Celebration

Today we had the pleasure of spending the day
with another special friend that is celebrating a birthday!

Our sweet little neighbor just turned FOUR.

Elliotte and Caitlin are only ever the same age for 2 short days.

It's so hard to believe that when we moved to PEI,
Caitlin was only a few months old
and I had only recently found out that we were expecting Elliotte.

Now those two are 3 and 4 years old.

We had such a great day celebrating together.

First a lunch date at McDonalds
followed by swimming at the pool!

FUN!

Too bad that big sister Sylvie missed our fun.
I'm sure she was having heaps of her own fun in Kindergarten though!
