Dryer Duty

I really hope that Piper
will still want to help with the laundry when she's thirteen!

This is one of her favouite 'chores'
to help with around the house!

When she hears the buzzer from the washing machine go off,
she runs to the laundry room!

The only glitch in this task
is that while I'm reaching into the washing machine
to get more laundry to pass to Piper to put in the dryer,
she often grabs dirty laundry out of the hamper
and throws it in the dryer with all of the clean stuff.

She's a work in progress!

xo

Mommy's little helper!
Did she try to climb all the way inside?
OF COURSE she did!
She's Piper!

Dora the Explorer

Yesterday,
my neighbour and I took our girls to go see a
live Dora the Explorer show in Charlottetown.

Piper doesn't watch much of the show,
so I wasn't sure how she'd react,
but as usual she did not disappoint!

She was a little alarmed when they turned off all of the lights in the theatre
and more alarmed when all of the kids started shouting Dora's name,
but it only took her a moment to settle in and enjoy the show.

By the time she recognized Dora and her monkey,
she was entranced.
Her palms were sweating and everything!

She stood in front of my seat and danced her little heart out,
wiggling her bum as much as she could.

Her favourite part was when the sun was broken
and they asked everyone to help push it back together.

Well Piper had her little arms out and was 'pushing' so hard
that she was vibrating and grunting!
It was adorable to watch.

Piper's friend Sylvie was there with us.
Poor Sylvie is 2 and a half and cried to break her heart
when Dora left the stage for intermission.
Her mom told her that Dora had to go pee,
but she would soon be back.

...
...

Intermission was a little long.
Long enough that eventually Sylvie looked up at her mom and said
that Dora must have had to poop too!
Haha.

After the show continued,
every time the characters left the stage to quickly change the set,
Piper would look at me and say "pee?".

Those two kids!
They sure made the show worth it for us mommas!
We laughed so much!

xo

The stage!
The cast!
Sylvie crying for Dora during the intermission!
Piper still clapping and not taking her eyes off of the stage
even after almost everyone was gone!

And a quick follow-up to yesterday! After the show we stayed in Charlottetown for supper. That meant that by the time we ate and drove home, it was Piper's bedtime. That was the same time that Blue got skunked. I asked for suggestions on how to deal with the stink. I had numerous suggestions... so I tried them ALL! Thanks to anyone who contributed. My house is smelling better. I'll let you know tomorrow on my progress with the dog.

I really did buy all suggestions!
Plus a few extra air fresheners.

Piper's Version of Rainman

I was going to do a great blog tonight
about Piper's experience at the Live Dora show in Charlottetown today,
but I was only home for a few minutes
when Blue got SKUNKED.

Now we're desperately trying to figure out how to deal with the stink
and how to get it out of his fur.

UGH!

Here's our little version of Rainman.

Except that when I asked Piper how many were on the floor
and she said "two".

I think Dustin Hoffman was much closer with his count!

"Uh-oh. Mess. Two!"

Drawer Driving

Piper has one drawer in our kitchen that she's allowed to play in.

It's the tupperware drawer and she LOVES it.

Today is the first day that she realized that she could
climb inside,
which is shocking for this little climber
who has scaled EVERYTHING else in our house!

This morning,
after not-so-carefully removing all of the tupperware from the drawer,
she climbed inside and said "VROOOOOOM"!

I guess the drawer has been transformed into a sports car!

FUN!
But even more fun when you have passengers!

xo

"VROOOMMMM"!

Oh dear.
A little young for kissing in the car!
Tsk tsk tsk!

Let's Go Home!

After a sleepless night in New Brunswick,
I was not the only one looking forward to heading back home!

My bag is packed Mom. Let's go home to my room and crib!

Tired TV Cuddles

We all went to New Brunswick over the weekend
to celebrate the marriage of two friends.

Of course we ended up in the downstairs "kids' area,
where all the kiddos beat themselves and their parents out!

Nearing the end of the evening,
Piper and Nathan were too tired to play anymore
so opted for a cuddle on the couch while watching TV.

LOVE!

xo

They were much 'cuddlier' just before I took this shot,
but of course I didn't have my camera ready and missed it!

Free Play

Kids are so funny.

Piper has lots of cool toys around,
but for the majority of Nathan's visit,
they both played with a cardboard box 'house',
a semi-deflated helium-filled foil balloon,
a new-but-still-free helium balloon from the Optical Clinic at Sobeys
and two large crinkly shopping bags from Sears.

Oh, and they did play with a second-hand toy music box,
but only to accompany their dancing with the balloons and plastic bags!

I'm taking back all of the Christmas presents that I've bought for the kids in my life this year,
and I'm giving them all the boxes from gifts for ME
and the bags that they came in!
:-)

I had to enhance this photo a little so that you could even see Miss P.
Boys will be boys!
Nayson thought it was funny to close the 'doors' and lock Piper in her house.
Piper also thought this was funny!
