Thankful for Messes

Happy Thanksgiving!!

If I began to make a list of all of the things that I'm thankful for,
we would all be here forever!

Just off the top of my head:

1. I'm thankful for my wonderful husband
2. I'm thankful for my beautiful healthy daughter!
3. I'm thankful for our 'bun in the oven'.
4. I'm thankful for a wonderful extended family.
5. I'm thankful for my beautiful new home
6. I'm thankful for my handsome dog (shedding fur and all).
7. I'm thankful for popcorn served with orange juice.
8. I'm thankful for tissues, even if I do think they absolutely stink!
9. I'm thankful that my husband switched his hair product because
since I got pregnant, the smell of his old product make me want to vomit!

10. I'm thankful for my mischievous little girl.

Did I say I was thankful for her twice?
Well I am!

Piper trying to clean up her 'mess' after she scribbled on the floor with her crayons.
She thinks that if she covers it up, then it is gone.
I am so thankful for her. Scribbles and all!

See Ya Later Nana & Pop

This is the last post of Nana and Poppy Pope's visit.
I'm officially caught up to date,
but have fallen behind on the fruit/veggie analogies.

Tomorrow.
Tomorrow!

xo

1... 2... 3... Wheee....
1... 2... 3... You guys are sure gonna miss me!!!
A visit with Nana and Pop is so exhausting that one often falls asleep
while picking one's nose.

Quality Poppy Time

I really need to use up the rest of these grandparent photos
so that I can move on to more current shots.

Piper is growing SO fast!

Everyday she is saying or doing something new,
so I have to try to keep up!

Cardboard box houses are the best!
Poppy installing and painting a window in Piper's house!
Poppy and Piper 'painting' her house together!
Poppy doing slightly more complicated renos to Piper's Mommy's house!!!
Piper exclaiming "POPPY, MESS!"
For the record, every time she sees a mess now, she blames it on Poppy!
A piggy back ride after Poppy stuffed me full of ice cream!

Quality Nana Time

I still have some grandparent photos to use up,
so here we go!

The main reason we moved back to the East coast
was simple.

We wanted Piper to have a chance to spend more time
with her family.

After only living here for 3 months,
we're so happy that Piper has already had so much family contact and love.

Nothing beats a tea party on the slide in our backyard!
Building a carpark for her bus!
Post-bath giggles!

Story Time with Poppy

Poppy and Piper reading story books on the living room floor.

I'm not sure how Poppy ended up down there,
but as soon as Piper saw what he was doing
she immediately copied him and LOVED it!

The floor is as good a place as any to read story books!

One. Two. Three. Wheeee!

I really do need to go back in time a little bit
and post a few more photos of Nana and Poppy Pope's visit.

So much has happened since they left,
that we got a little sidetracked.

Here are a few of my favourite shots of our trip to the playground.

In most of the photos,
it's hard to tell who is having the most fun!

xo

Poppy offering his hand... but Miss Independent doesn't need it.
JOY & FUN!!
I love how Nana and Piper have almost the exact same expression on their faces here!
One. Two. Three. Wheeee!

Team Jerk

I have to post about this because I think it's just hilarious!

For those of you who may not follow expectant/new mother online forums,
you may not know that we tend to flock together
and follow each other's journeys.

Throughout a pregnancy,
as mothers start having their 20 week ultrasounds,
they start finding out their baby's gender
(if they want to know)!

At this stage of the game
you will start to see many posts from mothers
exclaiming that they are "Team Blue" or "Team Pink"
for obvious reasons,
as they find out if baby is a boy or a girl.

With Piper,
we were "Team Not Finding Out",
which tends to be the smaller group these days.

Well.

Mark and I had our 20 week ultrasound yesterday
and were still "Team Undecided" when we arrived at the hospital.

When the ultrasound technician asked me if I wanted to find out,
I explained to her that I was still torn.

She offered to write baby's gender on a piece of paper
and place in an envelope for me to take home.
That way we could find out later if we wanted to.

Perfect.
It was the perfect solution.
And that is exactly what we did.

After the scan,
where we saw our adorable little baby yawning and stretching on the screen,
we went happily home with the white envelope in hand.

Boy oh boy.
That envelope kept staring us in the face and refused to look away.

We tried our best to ignore it,
but goodness,
it was RIGHT THERE!

It even made it onto our laps as we tried to watch some television.
I don't even know what show we were trying to watch.
The envelope was calling out my name.
I swear!

After a couple of hours,
Mark asked if I was going to open it the minute he left for work in the morning.
I couldn't lie.
I said YES.

That was the moment that he jumped up and opened THE envelope.

I tried to read his reaction.
I DID read his reaction.

But I read it wrong.

He handed me the envelope and then I cried.

I was afraid that finding out early would ruin "the moment",
but it so didn't.
We are so excited!!!

BUT
we are not telling.
Anyone.

This is where "Team Jerk" comes into play.

I was talking to Piper's Aunt Susan who obviously wanted to know.
Boy or Girl.
I'm not spilling the beans.
This baby's gender will stay a secret.

That's when Susan made me laugh out loud by telling me that
her pregnancy forums had a name for people like me...
TEAM JERK.
lol

So so so funny!

Now that we know if Piper is having a baby brother or sister,
we are starting to prepare her a little more.

Do you think she will be willing to share Ernie and Dip??
Ugh!

xo

Most car rides take place like this.
I hope Piper will share with the Littlest Lynch!
We may be in luck.
She did share with Nana!!!!
