Nap Time Gets Tricky

We all know that Piper loves Ernie and Dip.

They are first and foremost the loves of her life.
(Next to Mommy, Daddy and Blue of course!)

But Dora and Boots are not too far behind.

Other than some colouring books,
we don't have any Dora toys.

That changed a few days before Christmas
when my cousin sent over a
hand-me-down Dora and Boots foam chair
that their daughter had outgrown.

Piper treats this chair like a stuffed animal.
She talks to it.
Feeds it milk and raisins.
Carries it from room to room with her...
She LOVES it.

I don't mind at all,
but it does get tricky when Piper insists
that Dora and Boots join us for story time before a nap.

(Shaking my head at the sweet silliness of my child.)

Thankfully,
I happen to know that Nana and Poppy
have sent a small plush Dora and Boots in a birthday package!
That should make story time much more comfortable for all of us!

xo

I know I know. We look ridiculous!
Piper is not really asleep in this photo, it just appears that way.
She's actually just as awake and excited as what Dora and Boots are on that chair!
Speaking of naps,
look who is very much enjoying his new bed courtesy of Santa!

Speaking of sweetness, a couple of nights ago, as I was putting Piper to bed, she asked me to take off my 'coat'. I figured the buttons were annoying her during our 5 minute cuddle after story time, so I agreed and took off my sweater. That's when Piper looked up at me and said, "oh my Mommy. Nice shirt! Oh nice nice shirt Mommy." :-D How sweet is that?? This shirt is a third generation hand-me-down maternity shirt, but who cares. Piper thinks it's nice!!

A Woman's Work is Never Done

I didn't attach the tray to Piper's highchair properly
before I placed a plate of food in front of her.

Before we knew what was happening,
there was taco and all the fixing all over the floor.

Piper was a little upset at the mess,
but immensely enjoyed helping to clean it up!

xo

Cinderella. Cinderella.
For some reason she liked to hold on to me while she scrubbed.
I need this sign!!!!
Today my floor is clean,
but I can't promise what tomorrow's floor will be like!

Walking in a Winter Wonderland

This is Piper's second winter,
but her first of being able to really get outside and enjoy the snow.

Today we all went for a walk
on the Confederation Trail behind our house.

EVERYONE had a great time!
Neither Blue nor Piper wanted to go home.

We probably would have stayed out much longer
if a certain little someone didn't have cheeks
as red as apples!

xo

Mommy throwing a stick for Blue,
towing Piper in the sled
and carrying/growing the Littlest Lynch in her belly.
Daddy - taking a photo.
Hmmmmmm.....
Blue LOVING playing fetch in the open fields of snow!
Piper couldn't get enough of the sled.
Her only complaint of the day was wanting her mittens "osh" (off)
so that she could pick up the snow!
When Mommy won't tow you any further,
you get out and tow yourself!
We turned around and started making our way back home.
Piper had other plans and took off back down the trail.
I wonder how far she would have gone if we'd let her?
But, we didn't let her.
Daddy caught up to her and wrestled her back to join us!

Pirate Piper

Piper and I watched an episode of Bubble Guppies
a couple of days ago.
It was the one where all the guppies dress up like pirates
and learn to read a treasure map.

It wasn't long after the episode was over
that Piper showed up in our living room "dressed-up".

She proudly marched around in front of me saying,
"Piper dress up Pirate, Piper dress up Pirate"!

It's a good thing this kid can talk so well,
otherwise I would have been a LONG time
guessing that this was her pirate costume!!

xo

Yep.
Apparently this is what pirates wear in Piper's world!
Oh, and as for the pajama pants... she flat out refused to wear any other pants that day.
Sigh. Terrible twos?
And here she is dressing up Wilson as a pirate too!

Baking Cookie Cuteness

We had another blizzard today,
so Piper and I decided to bake cookies.

Well...
maybe not bake them,
but we made rice krispie squares.

She thought it was a blast.
So did Blue!

xo
Our little thief stealing marshmallows from the bag before we stated cooking.
She wasn't working alone!!
With half of the marshmallows in Piper's (and Blue's) bellies,
we finally started cooking.
Piper thought mixing the rice krispies into the marshmallows was heaps of fun.
Since we had the holiday package,
she was especially excited to see the little green and red rice krispies!
And now for the best part!
As if licking her own spoon wasn't fun enough,
she asked to eat off of mine as well.
But, being the sweet little thing that she is,
she returned the favor by feeding me off of her spoon!
LOVE!!!!

*** For the record, I really should have reduced the amount of rice krispies that we used to make the cookies. I forgot to take into consideration all of the marshmallows that Piper stole and ate (or fed to Blue). Our cookies aren't exactly chewy like they're supposed to be, but at least they're still yummy. We may have a chipped tooth or two by the time they're gone, but they're too yummy to throw away! xo

Un-Decorating Decorating

In preparation for the new baby,
we have already taken down all of the Christmas decorations...
just in case.

We know all too well that baby will arrive
when he/she is ready and NOT when Mommy and Daddy are ready.

Un-decorating would have been easy enough
if Piper hadn't decided that she must decorate herself
with everything that Mommy tried to put in a box.

xo

The stockings do look cuter on Piper than on the fireplace!
How could Santa NOT spoil this little elf?

Happy New Year 2014

All of our company has been gone for a few days,
but we still have a few left over photos to share.

I thought this one was appropriate for today.

It's a new day and a new year.

Piper has started off this year as an only child,
but that will soon expire.

We know she will be a fabulous big sister
and can't wait to see the love that our two children will share.

The future is so bright,
we need to wear shades
(even inside)!

Happy New Year everyone!
All the best to you all in 2014!!

xo

Coolest Big-Sister-to-Be ever!
And being the only grand-daughter,
she totally has Poppy wrapped around her little finger.
First she gets him to wear the cupcake apron
and now the pink sunglasses.
I need to coach her to start asking him for money!!!!!
