The Princess Wants Crowns...

.... crowns of BROCCOLI!

A few days ago we cooked
salmon, moroccan spiced couscous and steamed broccoli for supper.

Piper went crazy for the broccoli.
She has always liked it,
but this was silly crazy.
Crying for it and everything.

She would only eat a few bites of salmon or couscous
before pointing at the broccoli and crying "more, more, more".

Now I'm sure most of you are thinking 'great'!
Broccoli is, after all, full of nutrients, so would could be the downfall of this situation?

GAS!
Two hours after bedtime GAS.
Middle of the night GAS.
No sleep for baby hence no sleep for mommy GAS.

Oh Piper!

xo

Yum Yum Yum!
A few weeks ago we couldn't get her to eat at all.
This night, we couldn't get her to stop!
So happy to eat the "little trees" as we like to call them!

Potty Training Will Be a Breeze...

Yes.
Potty training should be a breeze...
for a child that changes her own diapers!!!

This is a true story!

I was sitting in Piper's room today chatting on the phone with my grandmother.
Piper was playing away,
emptying the contents of her dresser,
trying on clothes and modeling them for me.

Then she moved on to her change table.
She was putting headbands on her head,
combing her hair,
looking at books...
all of the normal things that Piper likes to do.

Then she started transporting items from her room out into the hallway.

Since she was coming and going,
I let her work away.

I see her disappear with clothes,
diapers,
a disposable change pad,
barrettes,
coupons for diapers...

After a few trips to the hallway,
she didn't come back.

When I went out to see what she had gotten into,
I discovered the change pad laid out on the landing,
with my daughter laying on top of it,
putting a diaper between her legs.

HONEST!

This kid is just too much!

xo

Just changing my own diaper... like it's something I do every day!

Haha. If you're laughing at ME, then I must be doing something funny. Haha!

Summer Lovin' Had Me a Blast

Summers in Yellowknife...
oh how I will miss you!

It was so nice here today that Blue got taken on THREE walks.
He must have thought it was Christmas!

For Piper, she got some pre-nap swinging in the park
followed by a post-nap playdate at Duggan's house.

Miss Wynn joined in the fun at the water-table
and a great time was had by all!

xo

Splish splash!
Look Mom!!
I'm soaked from head to toe!
Triple trouble!

Poppy's Sidekick

Where there is Pop...
there is Piper.

I think we have a Poppy's girl right here!

xo

Side by side with Pop...
even if she was unsure about the quad.
But she warmed up to it!
Fixing the sink...
... or just causing trouble!

Park and Play with the Chaulks

I love my child.
More than I ever dreamed possible.

Living in Yellowknife I don't have any family around
and most of my friends all have children Piper's age.

That means that there are no breaks.
I never get an evening or afternoon to myself.
MANY times I have wished to live closer to home where I could have these breaks.

I've dreamed of leaving my wee one
in the safe arms of family members that love her too...
and then going out to a movie,
or a pub,
or a friend's house...
hell, I'd even be happy with a private trip to the bathroom on most days! lol

So you would imagine my delight,
while visiting Newfoundland,
when my Aunt Rhonda called and asked if they could have Piper for a couple of hours.

You would imagine all of the things that I would do
during those precious moments of ME time.

Well,
you're probably imagining wrong.

I froze.
I panicked.
I was a complete mess.

Imagine ME telling a mother of THREE
to be careful with my child,
to drive safely,
to stop at stop signs,
not to speed.
Ugh.

And how did I spend my child-free time?

Sitting by the phone waiting to hear how she was doing.

Yes,
I'm a crazy person.
A crazy mother in the least.

In the end,
I was just fine.
I survived.

As for Piper,
she had the time of her life!
I don't think she even noticed that I wasn't around.
Mommy who??

See for yourself!

xo

This is how I roll when my mom's not around.
Riding the dinosaur with Aunt Rhonda!
Of course the swings are a hit!
Playing the wind chimes with Cassandra!
I told Aunt Rhonda to drive safely and not to speed.
It didn't occur to me to ask her not to let Piper drive!!!
Weeeeeee......
She's having a blast and was well taken care of...
but I'm not sure what they were doing with her socks. Ha!
See-sawing!
No time to think about mom when you're having this much fun!

After park cuddles with Ben!
AND after park cuddles with Jimmy!
(Ahem... the socks?)
AND eating turkey soup with Cassandra!
What a day!!

West Coast Love on the East Coast

Piper is one of the luckiest little girls out there.

Not only did she get to visit her family that live on the East Coast,
but she also got to visit with her Aunt Cindy and Uncle Phil from the West Coast.

There is just so much love surrounding our little girl!

xo

Loving Cookie Monster...
... and loving Uncle Phil...
... and loving Aunt Cindy!
