Manicure Malfunction

We went to Charlottetown today to purchase some things for the new baby.

Yes.
I'm nesting!

Must get prepared and have things in order for when this little one comes home.

We also made plans to meet up with one of Mark's coworkers for lunch.

Since I knew we'd be eating in a restaurant,
I packed extra 'entertainment'
to keep Miss P busy in case she got ants in her pants.

Dear God!
She didn't just have a few ants in there today,
but an entire ARMY!!!
TWO ARMIES!

I don't think she sat still for one moment.
Add that to the fact that Mark's friend had chosen a BOOTH for us to sit in.

A BOOTH!
1. I have a two year old. How do you strap a two year old into a booth?
2. I'm 37 weeks pregnant. Can't push your chair out for more clearance in a booth!!
3. The freaking sun was streaming in through the window, straight into my eyes.

And then,
the food took FOREVER and Piper's milk never did arrive.

Want to see a crazy pregnant woman?
You should have been there!

Anyway,
sorry,
I went off on a bit of a tangent there for a moment.

The point of my story
is that we all know that kids and restaurants don't always go well together.
So,
I brought extra entertainment.
(Back on track here I think!)

One of the things I brought was nail polish.
I thought that Piper would sit quietly while I put it on,
then sit quietly while it dried,
and then not want to touch anything afterwards
in fear that she may smudge her manicure.

Sigh.
I must have the worst case of pregnancy brain ever.
This is Piper we're talking about.
NEVER assume and NEVER underestimate what she'll do.

The nail polish ended up being a great distraction...
for 3 minutes.

And the polish was rubbed off of her two index fingers
by the time lunch was over.

Why those two fingers??
Why else?
She's the world's best nose picker.

It's lovely when the boogers are coming out in different shades of pink and purple!

xo

Notice the one finger that is missing nail polish!
The right hand.
THIS hand must be SUPER for picking,
since TWO fingers are missing polish!
37 weeks along!
This was my goal all along since baby is considered full term now.
Do you see how fitting into a booth can be challenging?
And yes, I feel as exhausted and exasperated as I look in this photo!
SIGH!

Cookie Monsters

You may recall that our playdate with Sylvie on Tuesday
didn't go so well.
Not with Piper pushing her, hitting her
and then throwing her to the ground and stomping her.
(I honestly didn't sleep that night because I was so exasperated!)

Yesterday was a different story all together, thankfully!!

I didn't have a single incident to report until we were on our way through the door.
That's when Piper got mad at ME and hit me.

I can handle that
and am happy to discipline her for it.
(Well, not HAPPY, but you know what I mean).

I was so so SO pleased with how she behaved.

She may have gotten some extra cuddles and hugs when we got home!!!

xo

Sharing milk and cookies while watching Cinderella!
Piper decided to go for a ride in Sylvie's doll stroller.
And of course, monkey see monkey do!!

Four's a Crowd

Piper's mommy doesn't play on the floor with her
all that much these days,
simply because it's just too hard to get back up
once she's down.

Last night we did, however, have some snuggle time on the Minnie couch,
much to Piper's delight.

The 'three' of us were having a lovely cuddle
when we were bombarded by another friend.

I guess it just looked like too much fun to resist!

xo

Cuddle kisses with my little bunny rabbit.
(I feel like we look like a beached whale and a little bunny here!)
Of course, our cuddle party got crashed by our furriest friend!
I guess Piper has seen her daddy pull me up off of the floor once too often.
Without a moment of hesitation,
when she saw me trying to get up,
she reached out her hand and began to pull!
The offer was sweet,
but a crane would've been more useful!

The Spinning Stool

We had another appointment with the doctor today,
just to check in on Piper's baby brother/sister.

All is well.

Baby is head down and ready to roll.

My doctor doesn't think I'll go past my due date
and said that if she was a betting woman,
she'd bet I'll go a week early.

Since I'll be 37 weeks along on Friday,
and baby is considered full term by that age,
we are excited and ready to meet baby at any time now.

My guess is February 12th.

Let's see if Momma is right.

As for Piper,
she LOVES visiting the doctor.

The most exciting part,
other than helping the doctor
use the doppler to listen to Baby's heartbeat,
is the stool.

It spins.

It's fun to sit on it and spin,
or just to spin it on your own.
Mostly,
it's fun when Daddy spins you while you're sitting on it though!

xo

Officer Daddy taking Piper for a 'spin'!
Piper taking herself for a spin.
And... just spinning the stool by itself is fun too!
Yes, I'm pretty adorable.
I wouldn't leave my house this morning without bows in my hair.
SUCH a girly girl!

The Big "Hit"!

The things that fascinate children
can be so fascinating to adults!

Today,
Piper and Sylvie spent just as much time
playing with Caitlin's sippy-cup cover,
as they did with toys.

Claire and I just sat back and watched in amazement
at how interested they both were with it!

Funny.

They play date was great
until Piper decided to push Sylvie to the ground,
pin her between a chair and an ottoman
and then stomp her.

Yes.
We are going through a VERY rough stage right now.
She's hitting
and now,
apparently,
pushing and stomping as well.

It seems like the more I get angry with her
the more she does it.

I'm at my wits end.

I have no idea what to do with her.

Looks like this baby won't have much of a choice
but to be a tough little person!
Big sis is going to be rough!!

I need some wine.
Or screech.
Anything to calm my nerves.
At least all of these deep breaths that I'm having to take
may help with my upcoming labour!

xo

Not a great pic because of the window in the background,
but this sippy cup sure was a big 'hit'!!!

Daddy Doo Doo

My story tonight is much funnier than the photo!

Just after supper,
Mark and I were on the floor with Piper playing trains.
Everyone was having fun,
but every now and then a nasty smell
would cloud our senses.

Mark asked Piper if she was pooping or farting.
She replied "sarting daddy".

We kept playing.

The smell lingered.

Soon afterwards,
Piper was walking past her daddy.
He grabbed her and pulled out the back of her diaper
to have a peep inside to see if there was more than a 'sart' inside.

:-D

You should have seen the look on Mark's face
when he pulled away with poop all over his fingers!!!
Hahaha!

Piper had had an explosive episode of diarrhea
that shot right up the back of her diaper,
hence Mark made full contact when he simply pulled the back of her diaper out
to have a quick look.

It.
Was.
Priceless!

I wish I had my camera close by to capture THAT moment!!

Instead,
I'm using a photo from last night.

Piper tipped her Dora chair onto its back and proceeded to sit in it.
Once again,
I wish I could know what goes on inside her little head!!

xo

I feel like she didn't have her V8 today!
(A special thank you to Aunt Donna and Jim for Piper's Minnie Mouse outfit!
On days that she refuses to wear pants,
I can usually convince her to wear these because there is a tutu attached!) :-)

Old 'Pusser' Pete

Early on in my pregnancy,
like most women in the first trimester,
I was exhausted.

As a result,
I used the television to entertain Piper
more than I care to admit.
I was in survival mode
and it was one of the few things that helped
get us both through the day.

During that time,
we discovered Chuggington.
They're young trains in 'training',
similar to Thomas the Tank Engine,
but a cuter British version.

Piper LOVES them.

Thankfully,
so did her cousin Parker
who was kind enough to send his train set to Piper
now that he has outgrown it.

We often have to take Koko with us on outings,
and make sure that the four of her favourite chuggers are tucked in at night.

Next to Koko,
Old Puffer Pete is definitely her favouite.
He has ended up being MY favourite
because Piper can't say her "f's"
and therefore affectionally calls him "Pusser Pete".
I can't get enough of it!

Tonight we used blocks to build a tunnel for her trains.

It's so cute to watch how careful she is with them
and how she acts out little stories for them,
all with full dialogue that keeps me smiling so much it hurts.
Poor Koko is always stuck in the tunnel
and Puffer Pete, Wilson or Brewster always have to rescue her.

And then,
being the girly girl that she is,
she takes a break from the tunnel drama to comb each of their 'hair'.
I'll bet in all the years that Parker and Ian played with those trains
they never once took time out to comb their hair.
:-D

xo

Here is poor Old 'Pusser' Pete rescuing Koko AGAIN!
Women drivers!
Here you can see each of the trains heading to the hair-do station.
Her little pink comb is ready to beautify each of them!!
And of course,
being the little picker that she is,
she couldn't peep at me through the tunnel without a finger up her nose!
It's unreal how often one (or often two) fingers are in this kid's nose.
I spoke to the doctor about it and she just laughed and told me that some kids are just pickers.
Awesome!
