Pie Face with Nana

Pie Face is probably one of the funniest games ever created.

Especially when you play with Piper and Elliotte.

In playing this game,
you can very clearly see the drastic differences
in both girls' personalities!

Piper is timid, but eager.
She wants to play, but doesn't.
She wants to get 'pied', but doesn't.
When she gets 'pied' she laughs and thinks it's funny.
When she doesn't get it,
you can see the combination of relief and disappointment
all over her face.
So complex!

And then there is Elliotte.
She cannot wait to get her hands on that thing.
The more whipped cream the better.
She WANTS to get hit.
I can't even say that she's disappointed if she isn't,
because she doesn't allow for that to happen.
If she spins a 2 and doesn't get hit in 2 clicks,
then she keeps on clicking.
Don't dare take that game away from her
before she had whipped cream all over her face!
And once she's hit,
she laughs incredibly loudly from her belly!

Best.
Game.
Ever!

Can you hear her?
Piper thinks it's great fun when someone else get's hit.
Elliotte is just asking us to hurry along,
so that she can have another turn!
Daddy's turn!
Bam!
Just look at the girls watching!
Hilarious!
Piper is ALL about other people getting hit.
Action shot!
Nana got it good!

Nana's Benchmark

Last Monday we drove Nana to halfway to Dartmouth,
so that she could be with Jack for his very first day of school!

YES.
Jack is in kindergarten!

Krista and her family met us in Oxford
to do the "Nana exchange".

Boy!
Were the kids ever excited to play with each other at the playground!

Nana was equally excited to have all four grandkids together!

Why is Elliotte so sad?
Because Nana sat in the back with Piper for the drive.
(She sat with Elliotte for all the short drives,
so she wasn't playing favorites!)
Nana and her loves!

Ice Cream BONES

The weather is still super hot here in PEI,
even though it's September.

We took advantage of one of the last days
that Sunny's Dairybar would be open.

Blue was very glad that we did!

xo
xo

Yes.
That is a little Milk Bone sitting on top of Blue's doggie cone!

He likes it!
A lot!
Happy little hippos.
Usually Piper orders a cookie dough flurry - to be like her dad.
Elliotte always wants "pink ice cream with sprinkles"!
Today, both girls opted for vanilla cones
dipped in a salted caramel dip.
YUM!
Our happy boy.
A walk on the boardwalk along the waterfront
to burn off some of that ice cream.
They sat here and demanded that I take their photo.
I'm not sure what the arms are about?!

Eli's Birthday Party

It was a little late,
but we had fun celebrating Eli's first birthday
while they were here visiting!

xo
xo

Four very excited little kids!
I only had 1.5 hours to pound out a cake.
Sorry Eli, but this was the best that Aunt Karla could do.
He didn't seem too disappointed!
Elliotte had some trouble keeping her hands to herself.
This little ham LOVES cake.
And waiting for Aunt Krista to serve the cake took a
loooooooooooog time in this 2 year old's life.
Very pleased with the mess he's making.

Our big boy!
He's a happy fellow...
... and a messy one!

Beach Bum Buddies

A trip to the beach with Sylvie and Caitlin
was too much fun!

xo

So intent on what they're doing.

Time to clean all of the sand off!

What are my two beach bums looking at?

We were catching crabs! :-)

Chopstick Pros

I knew my kids were pro eaters,
but didn't know they'd be pros
using chopsticks!

Look closely in the photos.

It cracks me up that the white kids are using chopsticks
and the Taiwanese kid is using a fork.

Not only that,
my kids tried every Taiwanese dish on the table
and loved them.
Their bellies were full by the time we left!!

As soon as Elliotte saw us using chopsticks,
she demanded that she use them too.
And somehow made it work!
Chopstick prodigy!
Piper struggled a little more...

... but was equally determined.
Here she's just using one to spear her food!
Jenny is laughing at the irony of who's kids are using what cutlery here.
Empty plates.
We enjoyed ourselves...
just a little bit.

Soft Kitty

Piper did it!!

In a sudden act of braveness,
she got her face painted.

In the past,
she wouldn't even consider this.
Not only would she not consider it,
but she refused to even stand in a line up
to wait for Elliotte to get HER face painted.

I didn't even ask her if she wanted to do it this day.

Instead I asked Elliotte,
who (as usual) asked to be a kitty cat.

Piper jumped in and said, "ME TOO".

I was stunned.
Literally.
I just stared at her for a moment,
processing what was happening.

Next thing I know,
she hops onto the chair
and is being transformed into a feline.

What a proud moment for this momma!

Seriously.
Look at that face.
She KNOWS she took me for a loop!

Lizzie was visiting and wanted to be painted as a snowstorm!
IN JULY!
I told her she had to ride in someone else's car
because I don't like snow...
... she promised only to make it snow OUTSIDE my van.

Soft kitty. Warm kitty. Little ball of fur.
Happy kitty. Sleepy kitty. Purr. Purr. Purr.
