Hand Me Downs

For now Elliotte has no idea
that she's wearing almost all hand me downs.
Not just from Piper,
but from her cousin Jack, cousin Zoe, friend Amelia
and the girls who live across the street as well.

I'm sure she will hate it when she's in primary and elementary school,
since I remember the feeling all too well.

But then there will come a point in junior/senior high school
when she will think that her big sister is "cool"
and will appreciate wearing her clothes.
I hope.

And then they will get their own jobs once they are teenagers
and can either buy their own clothes,
or trade/swap with each other.

And then...
if they continue being like my sister and I,
the trend will continue until
Piper will be sending Elliotte a big box
of hand-me-down maternity clothes,
which will be appreciated more than all other phases combined!
(Thank you Krista!)

For now,
I will just keep enjoying the hand-me-down hand-me-downs
that are working just fine for my little princesses.

Bare Babies

Tonight was bath night for the girls,
so they were both 'running around' in their diapers for a little while.

I figured that I should capture a few shots of them
like this while I can,
since I HOPE that Piper will be out of diapers by the time the summer is over.

I love these two being small and close in age,
but I'm not exactly loving double diaper duty!!

Piper and her baby sister Budda... oops, I mean Elliotte.
"Just so you know Elliotte, I'm the big sister,
so that means that you have to do what ever I say".
Piper's version of "hugging" her sister.

Elliotte rubbing it in that she gets to stay up later than her big sister!
(Piper insisted on covering them both up with the same blanket. LOVE!!)

Mommy's Girls

This momma never gets tired of cuddles from her girls!

Elliotte cuddles!
Piper asked me to lie on her couch with her.
Then she covered me up so we could be 'cozy'!

Happy Birthday Slyvie

Today was Piper's best friend's birthday.
Sylvie turned three!

She had a lovely little birthday party
where I'm not sure who had more fun,
the adults or the kids.

We are so fortunate that they live across the street from us.
Now we have four little girls.
Sylvie is three.
Piper is two.
Caitlin is one.
Elliotte is zero.

We're all set to have a LOT of tea parties over the next few years!

Elliotte also had a lot of fun at her very first birthday party.
She took a nap in the playpen that was in the center of all of the noise.
Then she was passed around for cuddles.
Next she had a bottle (mommy had wine).
And then she came home with her very first loot bag.
She was a gem!

Piper was.... Piper!

She gets along with Sylvie just great.
Once in a while they'll have it out,
but then it's over and they're hugging again.

Piper was over the moon excited when everyone sang 'Happy Birthday' to Sylvie.
Before we even finished,
she was shouting "make a wish, Sylvie. Make a wish!"
I don't think she even knows what that means!!!

Then,
after the candles were blown out and everyone was clapping,
my sweet sweet child grabbed onto the table cloth and pulled!

Can you hear the collective gasp of every person in the room??

Thankfully someone slapped their hand onto the tablecloth,
just in time to save the cake.
It honestly moved from one side of the table to the other.

Oh.
My.
Nerves!

I don't think Piper realized what would happen if she pulled,
but she found out pretty fast.
Ooooohhhh Piper!!

My two party girls!
Wearing the little sweater that Aunt Caroline knit for Piper two years ago!
Elliotte wearing her party dress.
Isn't she a little fattycakes?!?!
Looks like she has had one too many pieces of birthday cake already!
Excited to party!!
Our little balloon piggy!
The 'big' girls playing with Sylvie's new chalk/white board.
Sylvie, Piper and Georgie checking out the horn on Sylvie's new bike!
Very happy to have birthday cake!
The birthday girl and her little sister enjoying cake too!

Sleeping Beauties

So I have come to realize
that just because I think that Elliotte is HUGE,
it doesn't mean that she really is.

It's just that our teeny weeny little Piper
was all that I had to compare her with.

I was shopping at Walmart today
when an elderly gentleman came over to look at Elliotte.
He said, "let me guess... 4 or 5 days old".

I smiled and told him that no,
in fact, she is 5 weeks old.

He seemed very surprised
then went on to tell me that his daughter had a baby in February
who is much bigger than Elliotte.

Hmmm...
it got me thinking!
Maybe she isn't so big after all.

I guess it's all relative!

The princess....
... and the pea!

Yesterday we all ventured into Charlottetown for the first time as a family of four. It was our first realatively long car ride together. In the back seat, after Elliotte finally stopped crying, we hear Piper say, "Oh no! Elliotte got a bubble, mommy! Elliotte got a bubble".

I look back to see that Elliotte has a spit-bubble on her lips. I wipe it away with a tissue and before I can say anything, Piper says, "Good job blowing bubbles Elliotte. Good job!"

Ohhhhh the thought of them loving each other, playing together, encouraging each other, etc... makes my heart melt! I love these two little sisters!

Three's a Charm

Doesn't look like there is a big difference in size
between these two.

Piper at 3 months old
vs.
Elliotte at 3 weeks old

I think they are both around 11 pounds at this point.

Now their mother,
on the other hand,
is a whole other story.
LOL

There is a HUGE difference in her size.

Sigh.

Hoping to start running again on Monday
to see if I can get myself back to that same weight by 3 months again.
Since I gained an extra 35 pounds with Elliotte,
I doubt it will happen.

Oh well.
At least I had lots of fun gaining the weight.
I've never eaten so much peanut butter in my life!
:-)

Not a whole lot of difference in their size! :-)

Sister Storytime

Piper is very anxious for Elliotte to grow up and play with her.

She has tried to entice her with just about every toy in our house,
but for some reason,
Elliotte is still too small to play.

Hmph!

Today Piper tried her Violet 'laptop',
which was a total fail.
Elliotte didn't want anything to do with it.

Then she tried storybooks.

It went over much better,
but Elliotte is still a baby.

When talking to me about when Elliotte will be big enough to play,
Piper will always say "soon Mommy, soon".

Not too soon please baby Elliotte.

I love my little girls being little.

Elliotte clearly didn't enjoy the music from Piper's toy laptop!
Reading a Baby Einstein book to her little sister.
She stopped crying, Mommy!!
What a wonderful big sister!
