March Favourites

March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb? Is that what they say? Well I sure believed it this year!

As Piper grew we all agreed that she was absolutely perfect in every way but one...
her SLEEPING patterns. Or should I say lack there of.
I shouldn't put all the blame on Piper, since a large part of the initial sleep problem was due to early arrival and her lack of interest in eating that resulted from that. It meant that we lived on a very strict 3 hour rotation: 30 mins trying to breast feed (most often only being successful for 5 mins), followed by 40 minutes of pumping breast-milk, followed by an hour of then trying to feed Piper the expressed milk in a bottle. You do the math. That left me less than an hour out of every 3 hours to eat/sleep/shower/change diapers/clean bottles, etc.

By the end of February, I was crashing. Exhausted was not a strong enough word to describe how I felt. I was in desperate need of sleep and eagerly anticipating an upcoming visit from my parents, who I knew were anxious to help.

On the day that my parents were due to arrive in Yellowknife, issues with Air Canada caused a one day flight to turn into a THREE day journey. (I may have had a minor meltdown, locking myself in the bathroom and crying at this news, lol!) I am happy to announce that they did EVENTUALLY make it safe and sound to my house and I was able to get blissful hours of sleep while they did everything except hang upside down from their feet to keep Miss P from waking me up. Ha!

And as they say, March goes out like a lamb... well Mark's parents arrived near the end of the month without a hitch.

Oh, and by this point, Mark's Paternity leave started... and Miss Piper Cee started sleeping through the night (which meant so did Mommy)!

Zzzzzzzzzzzzz...

Who is keeping Mommy awake? Me?

And back at the Snow Palace again.
It's not so cold now that it's the end of March!
