Hide and Sneak with Poppy C

How incredibly fortunate are my little girls?

Not only do they have a great-grandfather to love and get to know,
but they have one that is agile and silly enough
to chase them around his house playing hide and seek!
(Hide and Sneak according to Piper.)

Poppy C is in his 90th year,
yet somehow can keep up with my hooligans.

Both Piper and Elliotte get a little foolish when they see him.
They love him so SO much!

Ready or not.
Here I come!

My children running through Poppy C's spotless house
squealing in absolute delight!

Poppy C chasing the girls through the hallway.

Cuddles with Poppy C and Miss Eleanor.

Elliotte kept playing hide and seek long after the rest of us.

"Why isn't anyone 'seeking' me?

Poppy C hugs.

Cousin Cameron stopped by for a visit while we were visiting.

Both little girls were smitten.

Little Travel Bugs

On August 22nd we set off for Newfoundland
via a quick stop in Nova Scotia
to visit Jack and to meet his little brother, Eli.

What a great start to our trip!

The girls were both fabulous on the drive to Dartmouth
and the flight to St. John's.

I'm so proud of my little travel bugs!

Elliotte meeting her newest little cousin.

Aunt Karla falling in love.

And then there were four!!
Poppy and three out of four of his little trouble makers
at the Halifax airport.

I didn't even know that Piper was on the plane.
She sat between Nana and Poppy and was a perfect little lady.
For the second time in a row now,
a flight attendant approached me before we landed
and asked if they could give Piper a full sized box of Smarties
for being so well behaved.
I'm so proud of her!
Though Elliotte wasn't quite as content during the flight,
she was still pretty awesome.
In her defense, it was well past her bedtime and she just wanted to go to bed.
She has never liked sleeping in your arms,
but love love loves her crib.
This momma is not complaining.
Having a baby that begs to be put to bed is amazing!

Grandparent Love

This is the last post that I have
of Nana and Poppy's visit to PEI.

Tomorrow we'll start trying to catch up on some photos
of our visit to Nova Scotia and Newfoundland.

Poppy and Piper were cuddled up here watching Cinderella
and eating popcorn.
Notice the pretty little bow in Poppy's hair?

Good morning kisses.
Nana didn't even make it all the way up the stairs in the morning
before Elliotte was kissing her.

Something kept distracting Poppy from eating his lunch.

Story time!

Harmonicas and Harmonica Cases

Nana and Poppy thought it would be a good idea
to give my girls harmonicas as gifts.

Because they aren't loud enough already??

As you can see in the photo,
Piper has claimed both harmonicas,
but that's okay.

Elliotte is perfectly happy blowing into the harmonica case!

This is so unfair, but the little one is so happy I can't interfere.

Saying "cheese".

Pony Express

During a drive through Cavendish,
we noticed a sign for pony rides.

Do you think that Nana and Poppy
could go past without stopping?
Not a chance.

This was Piper's second pony ride ever,
but Elliotte's first!

I had no intention of putting Elliotte on the pony at first,
thinking that she was much too small.

She had other plans.

She just about went foolish when she saw them
and cried when Piper got to go first.

Only someone with a heart of stone
would say no to her at this point.
She was way more excited than Piper even.

Giddy up!

Piper riding Roxie.

Elliotte was happy to watch after she threw her little fit
when she thought that she wasn't going to have a turn.

Happy at last!!

Guitar

No post last night because we were very busy...
flying to NEWFOUNDLAND!

We're here and excited.

No new photos to share yet,
but that will happen soon enough.

For now I will finish posting photos from Nana and Poppy's
visit to PEI.

It wouldn't be a visit with Poppy
if he didn't play guitar for the girls!

Not only did a dance party ensue,
but Elliotte insisted on helping him play.

Piper dancing very close to Poppy.

Even Blue joined in the dance party.

Piper's hair couldn't keep up to the dancing.
Elliotte is also dancing in this photo.
Can you find her?
Surprise. Surprise.
Elliotte found something new to sit on.
This kid just LOVES to sit on things!

Waterpark Smiles

It wouldn't be a proper summer visit with the grandparents
without a trip to the water park.

We had so much fun
that we went two days in a row!!

I should have taken photos of the girls at the end of each of these days.
They were beyond exhausted.

The giggles were endless!

Testing out the waters and learning to drive a boat like Poppy.
And let's hope they drive like mommy,
so that Daddy doesn't ever have to give them a ticket.
The pumpkin ride.
Elliotte was so sad that she was too small to go on.
Waiting for the carousel to open.
Piper taking Poppy for a ride on the tractor.
Elliotte and Nana's turn!
Elliotte would stand beneath any falling water on purpose.
She has almost no fear of the water.
So. Much. Fun!
Piper's turn!
Piper also decided to brave each of the waterslides all by herself this year.
Time to dry off and relax!

Blueberry Picking

We visited a Blueberry U-Pick a few days ago.

The girls loved it!

Piper would still be there picking today
if we hadn't dragged her out of there.

Once we gave her the crate to start filling up,
there was no stopping her.

At first she started picking EVERY berry and putting it in the crate.
Nana stopped her and explained that only the BLUE blueberries were good
and that the white ones were not good.

THANK goodness I was watching Piper
because next thing I know,
every BLUE blueberry was going into her bin
and all of the white berries were being picked off
and thrown onto the ground!

I asked her why she was doing that.

She then told me that Nana said that those ones were no good.
YIKES.

It only took a short explanation for her to understand
that she had to leave the white ones to ripen
and we were able to carry on
without destroying any future fruit.

Elliotte, on the other hand, was a little trickier.

She doesn't know her colors yet.
And doesn't care.

She was eating the blue blueberries and the white ones
as fast as her little fingers could pick them off.
You'd know she had eaten a white one
by the sour scrunched up look on her face.
Priceless!!

AND...
the adventures didn't end there.

Not long into the picking,
Piper started squirming and saying that she needed to pee.

There was no one around,
so I took her potty out of the van
and placed it on the grass road that you drive on to get to the fields.
I thought, "what's a little pee on the road?"
It's no different than if a dog peed there, right?!

Well, while she was happily sitting on the potty,
she looks up at me and proudly shouts,
"I'm doing my poop, mom!"

Nooooooooooooooo!!!

I tried to convince her to stop and hold it until we could get to a toilet.
No.
I begged her.

Too late.

POOP!

My daughter just shat
in the middle of the U-Pick fields.

Oh. My. Word!

I semi-panicked before I remembered having Blue's poop bags in my van.
It was not something I ever wanted to do,
but it worked
and I was able to clean up any evidence that we had ever been there
and soiled the ground.

Ohhhh Piper  Cee!

Picking blueberries with Poppy.
And eating all of the ones that Poppy already picked.
Self-serve buffet!
Nana and Piper were very serious about the picking!
They were both there to get the job done.
I can't get enough of these two enjoying time together!
PEI really is a beautiful island.
We decided to go to the U-Pick because we thought my girls would love it.
Turns out that Nana and Poppy were having just as much fun as the little ones!
With not a soul in sight,
we filled a crate of blueberries,
weighed them
and then left the money in this little tackle box.
I love the honor system and trust in this province.
Elliotte wasn't the only one eating our hard work.
One of my favourite photo that I have ever taken of my girls.
LOVE!
Berry picking was an absolute success with these two.
