No No to Ho Ho Ho AGAIN!

We woke up this morning
talking about getting our photos taken with Santa.

We had a great plan.

The girls chose pretty dresses to wear,
and as much as I wanted them to wear their adorable matching sneakers,
Piper insisted that they wear their pretty dancing shoes.

We would then hope in the van to drive to Charlottetown.
I even agreed that the girls could eat snacks AND
watch a movie on the way there.

Next we would show Santa our pretty dresses,
get our photos taken,
ride the escalator THREE times,
eat lollipops
AND
share a bag of Lays Original chips on the way home.

It was all set up to be a beautiful peaceful fun experience.

And then reality happened.

All was going as planned until Piper caught sight of Santa.
She stopped dead in her tracks and said,
"we'll get our photos taken another day".

And that was the beginning of the end.

We managed to get her into the lineup....
then to the fake snow near his sleigh...
then Elliotte sat next to Santa.
I thought this would be perfect.
"Look Piper. Just sit next to your sister.
You don't even have to sit next to Santa!"

Well, she sat.
For one second.
Then grabbed Elliotte's hand and made a grand escape,
towing Elliotte behind her.

Repositioning didn't go so well.
By then Elliotte had inferred that something must be seriously wrong,
so she started screaming too.

The photo tells the rest of the story.

The photographer was saying,
"I can see your arms".

With my eyes, I was saying,
"Take the damn picture".

Three minutes after the photo was taken,
Piper was happily skipping along,
riding the escalator (three times)
and talking about her visit with Santa
as if it wasn't so bad.

Tell that to my blood pressure!

KIDS!

2016 will be easier... right?!

Arms and legs tangled in a big mess.
I think each would sacrifice the other to get away.
Mark and I are each standing up and holding the girls here.
It was Santa's plan to 'sneak up behind them'.
The won't be traumatized, right?!?!

  1. Lol. Santa looks like a deer in the headlights. You know what they say about the best laid plans...
