Girls Growing Up

Both of my girls seem to be growing up
faster than I'm ready for.

It may seem silly for me to say that
when Elliotte's not even five weeks old yet,
but it's how I feel.

Not only is she ten pounds already,
but she's also sleeping in her big girl crib now too.
No more bassinet for this baby.
Piper didn't reach ten pounds until
she was probably 3 months old
and didn't sleep in her big girl crib until she was
six MONTHS old!

Elliotte is just so much sturdier and bigger!

As for Piper,
she seemed to grow up overnight.
The very night that I had Elliotte to be exact.

I had been warned that the first time that I saw Piper
after having a newborn,
she would seem gigantic.
Well Melissa, you were so right!

I remember the exact moment that my mom and Diane
brought Piper into my hospital room to meet Elliotte for the first time,
and I was shocked!
Just shocked!

How had she grown so much
when I had only been away from her for less than 24 hours?

Oh my!
Must cherish every moment...

... and it's funny that I say that,
seeing as how that THIS very moment as I'm typing,
Piper is standing in her crib screaming her face off.

She has been fighting bedtime EVERY night
for the past week or more.

It's exhausting and she is relentless!

Cherish every moment, Karla.
Every moment....

I asked Piper to help me make a chocolate cream pie yesterday.
As soon as she saw me pull out my mixer,
she ran to her kitchen and got her mixer too!
(Too bad she later declared that Diane made the pie.)
Humph! I didn't get any credit and she HELPED me make the pie!
This is how I found Elliotte when I woke up this morning.
She was straight up and down when I put her to bed,
but the little thing squirms and grunts so much looking for food,
that you never know where you'll find her!
Our big-little girl.
Look at how red her little face is.
She has a terrible case of baby acne.
We're hoping to see a doctor about it tomorrow.
From what I understand,
we just have to wait and let it go away on it's own
since it's just caused by her body trying to regulate hormones on its own.
:-(
