Today's Low: Having to spend FIVE hours at the hospital waiting to see a doctor because the bug bite on Piper's leg is starting to really get nasty... and there are new spots appearing around it.
Today's High: Having an excuse to have Piper in my arms to cuddle and nap ALL day!
Here's a quick blurb of the story.
August 28th: We were at the park with some friends. When we got home, we noticed a small red dot on Piper's leg with a small pale pink circle around it. We just assumed it was a mosquito bite and didn't think anything else about it.
September 5th: While giving Piper a bath, I noticed that the 'bite' was getting bigger and raised. I called to see a doctor but couldn't get in until the next day.
September 6th: Visit the doctor who thinks that this is indeed a bite of some sort, but tells me to go home and watch it. If it gets bigger, come back. Ummm... it's been 10 days and it IS bigger. Sigh.
September 8th: (Today) The 'bite' has gotten even bigger, is hard and raised AND there are little dots showing up around it.
This makes for a very panicky mother!
I took her to the hospital where they agreed that it is looking irritated and is possibly getting infected. I'm told once again to "watch it" and come back if it gets bigger. I JUST DID THAT! TWICE! How many times am I supposed to do this and how big do we let it get?
It has gone from less than 1mm, to 6x7mm, to bigger, harder and more dots!
At least this time we were given an antibiotic cream to put on it. I'll give it another couple of days before I go back again.
I'm not a very relaxed mom, so this is very stressful. I think I need a glass of wine....
FYI: Piper was a rockstar at the hospital! She played, nursed and slept as well as if we were at home. What a good girl she is!

You can see the bite here on Aug 28th. |
Here it is today, 11 days later. It's shiny because I just put the cream on it. :-( |
